Burma Partnership, formerly known as the Asia-Pacific Peoples’ Partnership on Burma (APPPB) was established by the Regional Conference titled “Democratic Change by the People: Asia Pacific Partnership on Burma” in Chiang Mai, Thailand in February, 2006. The conference was initiated and organized by the Forum for Democracy in Burma (FDB) in partnership with the Alternative ASEAN Network on Burma (Altsean-Burma) and Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development (Forum-Asia).
The three-day conference convened to establish partnership with Burma support groups across the Asia-Pacific region; to develop and implement a common strategy to mobilize concrete and coordinated regional civil society movement for Burma and to strengthen the support of civil societies to the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Myanmar Caucus (AIPMC) and national parliamentary caucuses on Burma.
Vision: Burma Partnership envisions a free and democratic Burma which upholds principles of human rights, equality and justice.
